Two Man United fans detained in Spain

Soccer Extreme : Two Manchester United fans were detained in Spain on Wednesday for causing a disturbance just before Manchester United's 1-0 win over Valencia in the Champions League, Spanish media reported.

The two were involved in clashes between groups of supporters from the two teams at bars near Valencia's Mestalla Stadium, the reports said citing local police sources.

Police were called in to break up the disturbance and two people suffered light injuries that required that they be taken to a health centre.

When contacted, a spokesman for police in Valencia could not immediately confirm the arrests.

Blanco goes from firing shots to putting out fires on TV

Soccer Extreme : Cuauhtemoc Blanco has played for Mexico at World Cups, got into rows with team officials and hosted a television show but never before been a fireman.

That will be the 37-year-old's role in a television drama series as he makes his acting debut while still playing soccer for second division Irapuato.

"This is a big challenge for me, it's a new stage (in my life)," Blanco said at his presentation as an actor in the series that will start airing late next month.

"I know I'll be criticised, people will make fun of me, but I don't care, I'll give it all my efforts and I know I'll come through," said the thick-skinned and outspoken Blanco, who played in his third World Cup in South Africa this year.

The charismatic Blanco, one of Mexico's greatest players, will be acting opposite Paraguayan model Larissa Riquelme who caused a stir wherever she went during the World Cup as she followed her national team to the quarter-finals.

Television drama series are the main strength of Mexico's Televisa, the biggest Spanish language broadcasters in the world.

Blanco, who slammed the Mexican Football Federation at the weekend for suspending two players for six months and fining 11 others for a party they held after a friendly against Colombia this month, has played in the second division since returning from two years with Chicago Fire in the United States in 2009. Soccer Extreme : Malena Costa, 21, is a Spanish supermodel and was previously dating a Spanish billionaire.

She is now involved with Barcelona captain Carles Puyol. Her private break-up with the billionaire was made public when she was seen romancing with Puyol at a concert.

The 5’9 model has appeared in a number of magazines – mostly in Spain – including FHM and she was also featured in the 2009 Larios Calendar.

She was born in Canaray Islands and her measurements are: 35-25-35.

Now, Carlos Puyol is hanging out with Malena Costa and friends in these pictures via twitter. Malena is a Spanish model and I have to say, a great pick up for Puyol. I mean he is an outstanding defender but not the greatest looking guy in the world. Anyway, good job Puyol and let’s work on that beer belly buddy.

Preview : Rubin Kazan v Barcelona

Soccer Extreme : Lionel Messi will have to pass a fitness test on his ankle to play for Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday at Rubin Kazan, which stunned the Spanish champions at the Camp Nou in last season's tournament.

Barcelona assistant coach Tito Vilanova said the Argentina forward has not yet received the all-clear to play against an opponent the Spanish club has spent a lot of time studying and believes is less likely to cause a similar shock result.

Follow match preview of the Champions League Group D match between Rubin Kazan v Barcelona on Wednesday Sept 29 2010, kick-off 17.30 BST.

Messi sprained the internal and external ligaments of his right ankle in the Sept. 20 match against Atletico Madrid after being fouled by defender Tomas Ujfalusi. He hasn't played since and wasn't originally expected to be fit to play Rubin.

Before flying to Russia, Messi trained with the squad for first time since his MRI scan. But he has been advised to be cautious as any aggravation could lead to serious consequences, Vilanova said.

"Leo always wants to play and this injury is progressing well each day," Vilanova said. "It is important for him to recover well. With injuries like this, sometimes if you don't recover properly there can be long-term problems."

Last season, Rubin midfielder Alexander Ryazantsev's long-range goal gave the Russian club a 1-0 win in Barcelona. Vilanova said his team had been thrown by Rubin's tactics.

"They played in a way that didn't make it at all easy for us," Vilanova said. "We have looked back at the games they played against us."

Rubin coach Kurban Berdyev is likely to have a full-strength squad with Spanish defender Cesar Navas returning from suspension.

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has been instructing his midfield to provide increased support in attack. All three goals in the team's 3-1 win at Athletic Bilbao on Saturday came from midfielders Seydou Keita, Xavi Hernandez and Sergio Busquets.

But whatever the result, Vilanova says Barcelona won't be overly concerned. "It is important but not that much — it's only the second game in the group," he said. (telegraph)

Preview : Valencia v Manchester United

Soccer Extreme : Manchester United will have to overcome the loss of Wayne Rooney and the excellent form of its opponent if it is to improve its terrible record in Spain in Wednesday's Champions League match against Valencia.

Rooney has been ruled out with an ankle injury, as is team-mate Antonio Valencia, who will miss most of the season after breaking his ankle two weeks ago. Winger Ryan Giggs is also out due to a hamstring strain and Paul Scholes will be rested.

Rio Ferdinand is set to partner Nemanja Vidic in central defence for the first time this season, and Ferguson will be happy to have his first-choice pairing back after watching his team concede nine goals in the past five Premier League games.

In Spain, Valencia leads the standings after five rounds and United manager Alex Ferguson was concerned enough about the good form of coach Unai Emery's players that he travelled last week to watch them, leaving assistant coach Mike Phelan in charge.

United has only won once in Spain in 18 previous visits and is coming off a 2-2 draw with Bolton in the Premier League.

Valencia has only dropped two points in the Spanish league and won 2-0 at Sporting Gijón on Saturday. While noting United's player depth, winger Juan Mata said the absence of Giggs in particular could have a large bearing on the result.

"Ever since I was a kid, I've always liked and admired Ryan Giggs because of his technical characteristics and because I think he is, and has been, one of the best wingers in the European game," Mata said. "His absence will be important, especially with the experience he brings to matches."

Emery praised the contribution of Ferguson at United but said his own team expects to do well at Mestalla stadium.

"At a coaching level, I have great respect for him. He's like a mirror to watch, to learn all the things he contributes to the game," Emery said. "We have high expectations, with our sights set high, and we are confident things will go well."

With Rooney missing, Dimitar Berbatov is likely to lead the attack after scoring six goals in six Premier League matches.

Midfielder Michael Carrick could return to the United team for the first time since early August after recovering from an Achilles' tendon injury.

"It is going to be a difficult match," midfielder Darren Fletcher said. "People might say it is not the same Valencia because they have lost (David) Villa and (David) Silva. But as we have seen at Manchester United, when you lose good players, others step up to the mark and take on more responsibility."

Head to Head

Mehmet Topal v Darren Fletcher: Topal is Valencia's midfield enforcer and proved what a threat he can be by scoring the opener in last weekend's win over Sporting Gijón. Darren Fletcher will doubtless try to do a similar job for United. The victor could go a long way to ensuring their team ends up on top too.

Roberto Soldado v Rio Ferdinand: Valencia's in-form striker will have a point to prove at the highest level after failing to make it at Real Madrid. Ferdinand will want to stop him after having his appearances limited since returning from the knee injury that ruined his World Cup and the gaps in United's leaky defence need to be filled.

David Navarro v Dimitar Berbatov: An experienced central defender, Navarro sparked an infamous brawl in a Champions League tie with Inter Milan during which he broke the nose of an opponent and for which he was eventually banned from all football for six months. Berbatov will be looking to avoid the 30-year-old's attentions and put some gloss on United's performance, especially with Wayne Rooney missing. (telegraph)

Ajax ::
Midfielders Rasmus Lindgren and Eyong Enoh are available for the clash as they have been passed fit. Jol will also have striker Luis Suarez and defender Vertonghen back from suspension. However, Teemu Tainio looks likely to be out and Evander Sno is recovering after heart surgery. Kenneth Vermee and Nicolas Lodeiro are long-term injury concerns.

Milan ::
Midfielder Gennaro Gattuso is suffering from muscular fatigue and could be given a rest against Ajax, latest reports suggest. Alexandre Pato and Massimo Ambrosini remain out with respective injuries. Playmaker Ronaldinho could be dropped to the bench too as the Brazilian has struggled with poor form so far this season.

Preview ::
The Group Stages Match Of Uefa Champion League Has been Started Of Uefa Champion League. The Two team have a very aggressive strategy for next time to come in.Millan Already won their first Match in Group Stages of Uefa Champion League by 2-0 Margin from Auxerre.

Two second-half goals by Zlatan Ibrahimović ensured AC Milan got their UEFA Champions League campaign off to a strong start with victory against AJ Auxerre.
After a subdued first half during which the visitors struck the woodwork, the hosts' summer signing opened his Rossoneri account with two strikes in the space of four minutes, both of which were set up by the dazzling Ronaldinho.

Milan had struggled to find their feet in the early exchanges, marked by misplaced passes which twice could have resulted in Massimiliano Allegri's side falling behind inside five minutes. Fortunately for the Serie A team, Christian Abbiati smothered strikes from Valter Brsa and Steeven Langil, who had been presented with possession in the penalty area after a mix-up between Andrea Pirlo and Alessandro Nesta.

As Auxerre took the initiative, Abbiati could only watch Adama Coulibaly's header from a Benoît Pedretti corner cannon off the bar midway through the half. Milan had so far only mustered a Pirlo free-kick, punched clear by Olivier Sorin, but the introduction of Kevin-Prince Boateng for the injured Massimo Ambrosini sparked the locals into life.

The Ghanaian international almost scored his first goal for the Italian club following a flowing move down the left, instigated by Ronaldinho's clever back-heel into the path of Luca Antonini. The defender picked out Boateng, whose drive was blocked by Stéphane Grichting; the rebound fell to Pato, via Pirlo, but the Brazilian too was thwarted by the impressive Dennis Oliech.

Champions League Preview : Ajax v AC Milan

Soccer Extreme : Dutch powerhouse and former four-time European champions Ajax's first appearance in the Champions League in five years ended in bitter disappointment on Matchday One last month as they were turned over again and again by Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

The 2-0 scoreline is actually a less harsh portrayal of the true picture in the Spanish capital as Martin Jol's side managed just eight shots, out of which one was on target. Admittedly, striker Luis Suarez and centre-back was Jan Vertonghen were.absent for the trip to Spain but the defeat exhibited that de Godenzonen are prone to struggling without their big stars.

But both Suarez and Vertonghen are back for Ajax's home match against Milan on Tuesday evening and this will considerably strengthen their chances of collecting their first points of the season in Europe. Ajax have been in sensational form at home in the Dutch Eredivsie, having won three games out of three at the Amsterdam Arena, and will be eager to maintain that winning run in Europe too.

However, the current league leaders were held to a 2-2 draw at the weekend by Dutch champions FC Twente and coach Jol is wary of the task ahead, saying, "Milan have plenty of class in each area, especially in attack, although the defence is solid as well."

Milan president Silvio Berlusconi would tell you that the Rossoneri have the European Cup in their DNA and although given their transgression since 2007 when they last won the Champions League you might be tempted to release a giggle, you may just have to suppress that since indeed the Italians are the masters of Europe.

With seven European Cups Milan are the second most successful club in Champions League history and will travel to Amsterdam to take on Ajax with hope and optimism. The Rossoneri's start to the continent's biggest club football competition wasn't exactly impressive but the stuttering 2-0 win means that they do have three points in their bag in a group that also comprises of Real Madrid and Auxerre.

However, Milan's current form is far from austere and their away record in all competitions this campaign is poor. The Diavolo's narrow and somewhat less than impressive 1-0 win against Genoa on Saturday was their first in Serie A since the opening weekend of the league season and they have yet to win away from the San Siro this campaign.

Nevertheless, it will be a special occasion for Milan and also for duo Clarence Seedorf and Zlatan Ibrahimovic who played for Ajax in their respective careers. Looking ahead to his return to the club he conquered Europe with in 1995, Seedorf says, "For me, it is really special at this stage of my career to be able to go back to Ajax again. I hope the feelings are mutual."

But the Dutch veteran warns, "They will have learned from their mistakes against Madrid. I am really curious to see how they will play against us. I hope that it will be a great match." (goal)

Chelsea looks to overawe their challengers showing their big scores in domestic League, with six goals of difference in many cases. However, in their last matches, Carlo Ancellotti's team looks on an small scale. Newcastle and Manchester City were their mercenaries. Apart from this, Chelsea will be diminished with the absence of Drogba as spearhead. Didier is a great aggresive player but sometimes he can not suppress his feelings. This is the reason why he remains suspended for this match. Nevertheless, Chelsea have magnificent players in their squad. So, it would be almost a crime not to call for this game against Marseille to Anelka. At the same time, Frank Lampard will miss also this clash. The talismanic player of Carlo Ancelotti is recovering from his hernia surgery, which has taken longer than expected. In contrast, Malouda is in unstoppable form, which is why he will be in the starting line-up.

Olympique Marseille, by the time, are currently sixth in Ligue 1 with 11 points, five less than the leader. Good performance level, but the things change in Champions League. Didier Deschamps's men lost against Spartak Moscow in their opener. L'OM, as popularly known it in France, will be with Nigerian Taye Taiwo, who scored a latest goal against Sochaux over the weekend. Apart from him, Vitorino Hilton, Azpilicueta and Gabriel Heinze will be the group of defenders to be charged with the responsibility of keeping Chelsea quiet.

Champions League : Chelsea v Marseille

Soccer Extreme : Chelsea striker Didier Drogba sits out the last of his two-match Champions League ban and will not be able to play against his former club Marseille. Frank Lampard (hernia) and Yossi Benayoun (calf) are still out but Ashley Cole returns after being rested for the 4-1 win over MSK Zilina.

Forward Salomon Kalou has a thigh problem, but Gael Kakuta (back) is fit.
Marseille defender Souleymane Diawara should play after he returned from injury against Sochaux at the weekend.

Chelsea suffered their first league defeat of the season when they went down 1-0 at Manchester City, but manager Carlo Ancelotti is not concerned by the blip.
"I haven't asked the players for a reaction. We just have to play our football," said the Italian boss.

"We have to pay attention and get the points from this game. It is an important game for us to go to the top of the group." French champions Marseille lost their opening group game to Spartak Moscow, but Ancelotti is wary of their potency.
"Marseille are a good team, with good organization. They use attacking play and they are quick," he added.

"My players will know everything about the opponent but the most important thing is our play. If we play our best, we will win."

Marseille coach and former Chelsea player Didier Deschamps noted City's approach to the game against the Blues and is hoping for a similar outcome for his team on Wednesday.

"Chelsea have had a good start to the season but they have not played many sides from the upper echelons of the league," said the ex-France captain.
"I did watch the game against Manchester City, who did a lot of good things that hopefully we can repeat.

"We need to close the space down and impose ourselves physically. These kind of games are settled in the finer details and let us hope it is settled in our favour. (bbc)

(Video) Furious : Beck exploded with rage

Soccer Extreme : Furious David Beckham exploded with rage in a face-to-face confrontation with a fan who taunted him over the vice girl scandal.

The strain finally told when an LA Galaxy supporter twice shouted "Stop with the prostitutes" at him as he walked down the players' tunnel after the team's 2-0 home defeat to the New York Red Bulls on Friday night.

In exclusive footage, fuming ex-England skipper Becks can be seen turning on his heel and marching back to confront his accusor.

Seeing the anger etched across Becks' face, the heckler is heard saying: "Oh, he's coming after me."

Seconds later, heavily-tattooed Beckham snarls at the man: "Do you want to say it again? Do you want to say it again?"

The accusor replies meekly, 'I didn't say anything', before Beckham - upset at being taunted by one of his own club's supporters, snaps: "You got a Galaxy shirt on! You got a Galaxy shirt on!"

Again, the heckler insists, 'I didn't say anything', at which Beckham turns to walk away. But still furious, he turns back and, pointing at his head, mouths the words: "Say it to my face."

The extraordinary eruption from a usually calm Beckham shows just how wounded he has been by the lies levelled against him by hooker Irma Nezirovic. The sensational 30-second confrontation was captured on video by another LA Galaxy fan at the club's Home Depot Center stadium.

The fan told us: "It was a big shock to see David react in such a way. A real shock to everyone.

"The guy who yelled out was only young - he looked about mid-20s. He was about 6ft 2in, had blonde hair and wore a navy blue Galaxy jersey.

"I was very surprised David Beckham decided to turn around and approach him. He's an international superstar. I expected him to ignore the comment and keep on walking. I know his team lost, but he looked frustrated throughout the game." (newsoftheworld)

David Beckham Sex Scandal Allegations Deepen Further

Soccer Extreme : David Beckham's alleged sex scandal continues to deepen. A second woman says that she partook in a scandalous threesome with the soccer superstar in 2007.

An unnamed prostitute tells In Touch that she and a curvy call girl slept with Beckham. "We were supposed to do a girl-on-girl scene but I was a bit nervous because I'm always a nervous wreck but then Irma took over," she claims. According to the magazine, the prostitute says she and Beckham had sex for around three to four minutes.

Beckham's spokesperson maintains that the scandalous claims, which are now backed by three people, are untrue, and the married star plans to sue In Touch.

More details are in the magazine's latest issue. Scroll down for more.

Married soccer star David Beckham may be denying having sex with former hooker Irma Nici in 2007, but now, a second hooker says it's true--she was there! "We were supposed to do a girl-on-girl scene but I was a bit nervous because I'm always a nervous wreck but then Irma took over." She continues, "He felt more comfortable with Irma," the brunette, who does not wish to be named, tells In Touch. "Irma is very outgoing and very bubbly." But the brunette claims she and David did have sex for about three or four minutes.

Ex- 'Manhattan Madam" Kristin Davis, who went to jail for her part in former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer's dalliance with prostitute Ashley Dupre, also confirmed to In Touch she supplied a 'brunette with curves' during Irma's tryst with Beckham. (huffingtonpost)

(Picture) Irma Nici, David Beckham's Mistress?

Soccer Extreme : Irma Nici, a 26-year-old former prostitute, claims to have carried on a steamy affair with soccer superstar David Beckham, In Touch reports. The brunette beauty tells the magazine that Beckham agreed to pay her $10,000 for one night of passion.

After an hour of foreplay, Nici says the two had sex for 15 minutes. Nici claims the sex was "nothing freaky," and she rates Beckham's lovemaking as a 7.5 out of 10.

Scroll down for more from In Touch, including a picture of Nici, and check out the magazine's latest issue for even more details.

In a worldwide exclusive interview with In Touch, Irma Nici, a former high-class call girl, claims she's slept with the world's most famous soccer star, David Beckham, five times in 2007 and spills every dirty detail of their affair. "It was a high," Irma, 26, tells In Touch. "All of these women dream of being with him, and I got to hook up with him. It was very exciting."

Irma claims that after agreeing on a price of $10,000 to stay the night, the two spent the next hour engaged in steamy foreplay. Irma says she then "whipped out" a condom and the two had sex for 15 minutes, but it was "nothing freaky," she remembers. "He was very gentle and kind." On a scale of 1 to 10, Irma rates David a 7½ as a lover. "He knew what he was doing." She also recalls that David used lotion from the hotel bathroom to pleasure himself. "It was perfumed, so it kind of burned him!"

During their initial sexual encounter, David even opened up about wife of 11 years, Victoria. Irma says that David told her he preferred Victoria's old curvier body. "He was saying that he liked her body more before," she says. David also revealed to Irma that he is "more of a butt man than a breast man."

Zanetti to miss two matches to recover from pneumothorax

Soccer Extreme : Durable and reliable veteran Javier ZANETTI will strangely miss a couple of matches for Inter Milan as a precaution after suffering a pneumothorax as a result of getting hit by a football during the weekend match at Palermo.

Pupi fainted after the match and had to go to the hospital though he was released and was able to fly back to Milan with the rest of the team.

A pneumothorax is "an abnormal presence of air in the pleural cavity resulting in the collapse of the lung; may be spontaneous (due to injury to the chest) or induced (as a treatment for tuberculosis)"

ZANETTI won't be able to play against Bari on Wednesday and he will also have to skip the trip to Rome to face Roma on Saturday.

Serie A will play their fixtures in mid-week. With most matches being played on Wednesday and Juventus v. Palermo on Thursday.

The other three Argentines at Inter are expected to start or are at least available for Rafael BENITEZ.

Just like we mentioned with La Liga, we will be following the Argentine players in action in Serie A through our CLUB FOOTBALL section. (mundoalbiceleste)

Dimitar Berbatov scored a hat-trick as United won a thrilling game at Old Trafford

Soccer Extreme : Sir Alex Ferguson will allow Dimitar Berbatov to start a big game; the possible return of Rio Ferdinand for Jonny Evans - and, last but by no means least, the intriguing managerial machinations. Both Roy Hodgson and Ferguson have a tendency to play one up front in big games - but will they change tack today?

Stats that may or may not be relevant for today's match:
* Four of the last five Utd v Liverpool games have had at least three goals
* United's league record last season after Champ Lge matches: W3 D2 L5
* There have been six red cards in the last seven matches
* United have yet to concede a goal at Old Trafford this season
* Liverpool are yet to score a league goal away from home this season

Manchester United team (4-4-2) with no Rio Ferdinand and nine changes to the team that drew against Rangers Van Der Sar; O'Shea, Evans, Vidic, Evra; Nani, Scholes, Fletcher, Giggs; Berbatov, Rooney. According to our Manchester correspondent Daniel Taylor there are unconfirmed reports that Ferdinand is ill.

The Liverpool team (4-2-3-1) with Joe Cole and six changes to the team that beat Steaua Reina; Johnson, Carragher, Skrtel, Konchesky; Poulsen, Meireles; Maxi, Gerrard, Cole; Torres.

Latest odds: Manchester United 8-11, Liverpool 5-1, draw 11-4.

An email ... "This is the season that United will surpass Liverpool's record," predicts Harris Anyangu. "There's the motivation. All they have to do is keep the tabs on Joe Cole." Surely Chelsea's current form is more of a worry?

The strains of Glory, Glory Man Utd die down ... And to the Stone Roses' This Is The One the teams leave the tunnel. Not long to go now. Meanwhile Rob Hisnay emails: "Please tell me what's a better value for the dollar: City spending £7m for Adam Johnson, Spurs £8m for Van der Vaart ... or Fergie £7m for Bebe?" Mmm.

1 min We're off! United kicking from left to right get the game underway.

2 min: United immediately attack and Konchesky has to be alert and muscular to stop Berbatov climbing above him at the back post.

4 min: "Not meaning to stir Liverpudlians, but after Kenny Dalglish's preposterous acclamations about 'winning the title' I think their expectations need to be seriously tempered," reckons Patrick Willis. "If Liverpool make Europe this season it will be a success, given Chelsea, United, Arsenal, City, Spurs are all quite simply better teams on paper. And a Champions League qualification would be like winning the title" Think it's a little early to be writing Liverpool off, Patrick - Torres needs to get fit and the new signings need to bed in. But I agree, they don't look top four material at the moment. Or even top six.

5 min: United's first corner is headed over by Vidic. It's all United.

6 min: Scholes ... Nani ... Konchesky's knee ... corner, which Gerrard clears.

7 min Another Nani cross, another block, another corner. It's thumped away, but United immediately pump the ball back into the box and O'Shea should have done better than to impulsively swipe at a half-chance 15 yards out. Incidentally, Vidic was tugged by Carragher at that corner, but his resulting dive was pure Superman.

10 min It's all United ...

11 min: It's started pelting down at Old Trafford. There's a brief lull, with United content to sit off while their fans taunt 'Premier League, you're having a laugh'.

13 min First significant touch for Joe Cole, who comes inside from an inside-left position to collect a Gerrard pass before dropping his shoulder ... and getting tackled by Evra.

15 min Right now Liverpool are about as fluent as Pope Benedict's English; they've just had some possession but it so stumbling and slow.

17 minutes Best move of the match from United, as Rooney breezily exchanges passes with Berbatov before sliding in Nani on the right. Nani's initial shot was deflected to Rooney, who returned it back to United's winger only to watch as it squirmed wide.

18 min: "Just a thought: Skrtel, Konchesky, Meireles ... is this the baldest Liverpool side ever?" asks Philip Hucknall. Well?

20 min: Torres, for those of you asking, is still scratching around trying to get into the game. And to be honest, the same could be said for Liverpool. You'd never know they have an extra man in midfield.

21 min Another United corner - their fourth - is Stammed over the bar by Paul Scholes from 20 yards. United have now had five attempts on goal to Liverpool's nil, although Reina is yet to make a save.

23 min: "King Kenny has nothing on my optimism," says Ian Copestake. "Given Roy's ability to make Liverpool play in the second half only, a half-time deficit of 3-0 shouldn't be a problem." On the pitch, Johnson balloons a cross into Van Der Sar's arms.

25 min: Rooney drifts into a decent position, 10 yards from the box, but his dinked chip - intended for Berbatov - goes straight to Reina.

27 min Liverpool win their first corner after some clever trickery from Torres by the corner flag. It's played short to Johnson, who cuts menacingly inside before skidding his shot about 30 yards wide of Van der Sar's post. Still, that's Liverpool's best effort yet.

28 min United immediately return fire - again down the right, but Skrtel clears. It's a huge surprise that this is still level.

30 min Torres' meek effort from distance goes for a goal-kick. "Another thought - do the receding hairlines of Berbatov, Rooney, Giggs and O'Shea make it one of the baldest matches this season?" asks Robert Sansum.

32 min Rooney's sloppy pass is intercepted by Johnson, who charges forward with intent. A difficult-to-control cross is eventually angled in towards Torres, who has O'Shea pushing at his back, but the Liverpool striker never looks like getting on the end of it.

34 min Gerrard gallops 5, 10, 15 yards ... and then is brought down just inside United's half. Meireles' free-kick is headed clear by Vidic, who is under no pressure whatsoever.

35 min Good defending by Konchesky, who keeps up with Nani in a lungs-fit-to-burst sprint before cleverly strong-arming him off the ball. Nani flew to the ground claiming he was hit in the face, but that challenge looked OK to me. Sir Alex Ferguson, you'll be surprised to hear, doesn't agree and harrangs the fourth official.

37 min Much better from Torres, who holds off his marker and feeds Gerrard. Konchesky is then played in down the right, before being rudely tripped by Nani. Nothing comes of the free-kick.

38 min [Minute-by-minute reporter dons beige anorak] Possession stats: Man Utd 47% - Liverpool 53%. Think that's slightly misleading. The visitors have come into this in the past 10 minutes but much of their play has been in their own half.

40 min: Oh dear. From a decent position near the left touchline Konchesky's sliced cross almost harpoons a fan. Still no saves from either keeper. It's not a classic ...

41 min Yet another United corner is headed behind by Gerrard ...

GOAL! Manchester 1-0 Liverpool (Berbatov 42) Superb header! From Giggs' corner Berbatov gets goal-side of Torres (who put in only token resistance) and headed into the bottom right-hand corner, past the diving Reina and the diving Konchesky, who handled the ball as it crossed the line.

44 min More United pressure. First they have an appeal for a penalty turned down after the ball hits Carragher's hand, then Rooney drags his shot wide of Reina's far post. It's all United.

45 min We'll have one minute of added time. Meanwhile Paul Turrall writes: "I look forward to Sky massacring Roy Hodgson for deploying man-to-man marking at a corner, they way they routinely did to Benitez and zonal marking."

Half-timeUnited are ahead, and deservedly so. Liverpool are looking like a scratch team, put together at the last minute and still trying to understand everyone's rhythms and cadences.

46 min We're off again. Meanwhile smoked_meat writes: "The scoreless Palermo v Inter match had more action in the first ten minutes than this rubbish will have in 90. What happened to the Premier League?" It's a bit harsh to make sweeping conclusions based on one half of football - and Premier League apologists will point out that there have been more goals at this stage of the season than in any other previous seasons - but I agree, this isn't a classic. So far.

47 min: No changes at half-time. Meanwhile this from Morten Nutzein: "Following from Copenhagen. The number of tattooed men in the Liverpool defense makes them look like a walking Bayeaux Tapestry. I miss England all the time." Oh England, glorious England.

48 min Oh dear. First Gerrard's pass shoots past Meireles, then - after United cede possession - Cole overhits a pass to the overlapping Johnson, who stops, starts and stops again before the ball trickles off for a goal kick. Sloppily play by Liverpool, who have started this half a little brighter.

50 min Great save from Reina! After Fletcher's rasper was blocked, everyone seemed to stop, as if playing statues, as the ball looped goalbound towards Berbatov. The Bulgarian poked out a toe, got a touch, but Reina stood big and blocked.

53 min Torres is annoyed as his deflected shot is skied behind - only for the referee gives a goal kick. This is marginally better from Liverpool, but they need more from Gerrard and Cole, both of whom have been marginal.

55 min Liverpool are given time to string a dozen or so passes together, but when they lose it United fast break and nearly made it two only for Giggs' cross to evade Berbatov by this much.

57 min NANI CLANKS IT AGAINST THE BAR ... from a difficult angle, wide of the post and about 18 yards out. This is a much better game now.

58 min An email. "Torres is such an easy target to go after," Michael Deery. "What has Steven Gerrard done for Liverpool this season? And, unless I'm mistaken he's not coming back from an injury."

WHAT A GOAL FROM BERBATOV! Manchester United 2-0 Liverpool (Berbatov 59) Fletcher's eye-candy pass quickly takes the ball from the centre of the pitch to the right. Nani traps it expertly before crossing. The ball evades the head of Rooney, but Berbatov controls it with one touch before, with his back to goal, scissor-kicking it off the bar and in! Fantastic goal.

60 min More panic in the Liverpool box before Carragher thrashes clear. Liverpool sub: Maxi off, N'gog on.

PENALTY TO LIVERPOOL! Torres cuts inside and is scythed down by Evans, who is given a yellow card. Gerard steps up ...

AND SENDS VAN DER SAR THE WRONG WAY! Manchester United 2-1 Liverpool (Gerrard 64) Lovely penalty to the right-hand corner, as United's keeper dived to the left. Game on!

65 min United immediately attack again and there are more palpatations in the Liverpool box before Reina saves a lobbed header. Meanwhile Ngog has been booked for a foul on Fletcher.

66 min With Liverpool racing forward, referee Howard Webb calls play back to speak to Poulsen, who had cynically blocked off Nani. No yellow card though, just some angry gestures from both sets players.

68 min More drama! Torres is trying to run on to Meireles' pass when he's blocked off by O'Shea just outside the box. The referee, perhaps assuming that Torres wouldn't have got the ball, gives yellow. But this is a real chance ...

INCREDIBLE! IT'S MANCHESTER UNITED 2-2 LIVERPOOL (Gerrard 70) After Webb spends an age sorting out the kerfuffle in the wall, Gerrard steps up and hits a not-that-well-hit-free-kick that goes between O'Shea and the swivelling Fletcher, bounces, and goes in.

71 min Another chance for Liverpool! Poulsen's long punt is skids off the Meireles' bald head and goes wide. Liverpool have looked so much better since taking off Maxi and switching from 4-5-1 to 4-4-2. Who said 4-4-2 was dead, eh?

73 min More emails re is this the baldest game ever. Morten Nutzein writes: "Has anyone mentioned that Reina is a bald man too? It is definitely Liverpool's most bald team ever. Maybe we should get back Danny Murphy?"

75 min Question: why have United given up leads in three of their opening five Premier League teams. Is it too simplistic to blame Evans, who has looked jelly-in-a-storm wobbly this season? Or does playing a couple of 35-year-olds in Giggs and Scholes inevitable mean your team will tire late on? Thoughts welcome ...

77 min Ngog sees the bright lights and goes for glory ... but his 25-yard effort is still going skyward as I type. Meanwhile Gary Naylor writes: "It's the way these days to turn one's back in a wall (letting the ball through and opening up the handball possibility too). If you're going to flinch, don't volunteer for duty."

78 min Liverpool sub: Meireles off, Jovanovic. I imagine he'll go on the left, with Joe Cole switching to the right.

80 min This is fast, frenetic, breathless. And it could still go either way. Nani, who has impressed throughout, cuts inside but his cross is gathered by Reina. Then Rooney's cross is headed clear. United are pressing again here.

82 min More subs: Liverpool bring on Agger for Konchesky, while Giggs makes way for Federico Macheda.

83 min More from Gary Naylor. "Evans isn't good enough and Vidic is too slow to cover for him, but the biggest problem for Manchester United is that they have three forwards on the pitch instead of the usual one. Berbatov does no defending at all, Rooney huffs and puffs, but is no defender and Scholes is by-passed or gives away fouls. Evans simply has too many opponents - this was crystal clear in the Everton match."

83 min Agger is furious at Nani, who has a touch of the Cristianos and goes down too easily in the box. Referee Webb has a word but decides not to award any cards.

BRILLIANT FROM BERBATOV! Manchester United 3-2 (Berbatov 84) From O'Shea's touchline cross, Berbatov climbs above Carragher to head home his third from eight yards. Surely United can't blow this now, can they?

86 min Nani is being treated for cramp. Wonder how much injury-time we'll get today?

87 min Double Man Utd substition: Nani and Berbatov off, Anderson and Gibson on.

89 min United fans are in full voice, while on the touchline Roy Hodgson has a face redder than Lady Gaga's flesh-dress. He looks furious.

90 min We'll have four minutes of injury time. Meanwhile my co-commentator Gary Naylor writes: "It's exciting stuff, but if Manchester United fans think they can win the Premier League by conceding two to Fulham, three to Everton and two to Liverpool, they're mistaken."

91 min Gerrard pumps two highly unsubtle balls into the United box, both times the impressive Vidic heads clear.

92 min United are playing keep-ball. "Is this the key to United challenging for the title this season?" asks Adam Hirst. "They have to learn to lose their lead earlier in the match to give them enough time to get a winner? And after two years waiting for a genuine, £30m match-winning performance from Berbatov perhaps he's finally arrived ..."

93 min Skrtel stupidly pushes Macheda in the back, giving United another chance to keep possession. Liverpool can't get hold of it here, and Gerard eventually takes down Anderson to concede another free-kick.

FULL-TIME Peep! Peep! That's it. United hold off Liverpool's fightback thanks to Berbatov's late winner ... United move up to third, while Liverpool remaining within sniffing distance of the relegation zone, although they should be heartened by their second-half fightback. (Guardian)

Ahead of Liverpool game, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson denies having tried to sign Joe Cole

Soccer Extreme : Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted he had no interest in signing Joe Cole over the summer.

The England international left Chelsea in June after failing to negotiate a new contract with the Premier League champions. A host of clubs, including Manchester United, were linked with Cole, but the midfielder eventually decided to join Liverpool.

Yet Ferguson has revealed he was never in the hunt for the 28-year-old’s signature, despite reports.

"We were approached by Joe Cole's agent at one point but we didn't enter into it at all," Ferguson told reporters.

"It was complicated to get involved in that."

Ferguson has also shed light on his recent decision to remove the captain’s armband from Gary Neville and permanently hand the responsibility over to centre-back Nemanja Vidic.

"As I explained last week, what we wanted was someone who was consistently available for us," Ferguson told MUTV.

"Everyone recognises Nemanja Vidic would always be there. He has been fit all season and you don't leave him out of the team unless you are going to rest him.

"He started the campaign as captain and it will stay that way."

Despite the two rival clubs harbouring different ambitions this season, the United manager is adamant Sunday’s encounter with Liverpool is still one of the Premier League’s showcase games.

"I sound like a parrot but this is the fixture. There is no question about that," said Ferguson.

"It doesn't change. The form fluctuates quite a bit but we won the last game so hopefully that turns it back towards us again." (goal)

Larissa Riquelme : Gets Naked In 3D For Playboy

Soccer Extreme : Fast forward in your mind’s eye to the next World Cup and what do you see? Silly new match balls? Droning horns? Stadiums full of girls with mobile phones placed between their knockers hoping to make a fortune?

It worked for Larissa Riquelme, who is now so popular with the punters that standard 2-D nudie pics of her just don’t seem to cut it any more. Hence, she’s been given the weird blurry red-and-green treatment in the latest issue of the gentlemanly porno mag, Playboy. (thespoiler)

Gemma Arterton : I'am not just a bit off ass

Soccer Extreme : Gemma, 24, revealed she had been tempted to walk off film sets because of the way she was treated.

The ex-Bond girl said she had read too many scripts in which women languished in the shadows - or were simply there to help the male lead.

Gemma, who also starred in Prince of Persia, added that some people in the film world treated women "like s***".

She said: "I'm looking at working with people that respect me, that don't just see me as a piece of ass."

The timing of her comments is odd - given she wears very little in her latest film Tamara Drewe.

Brit Gemma is seen in a pair of tiny denim hotpants in the movie based on a comic strip. (thesun)

Manchester United or Liverpool ??

Soccer Extreme : The two North West giants continue their intense rivalry at Old Trafford on Sunday in a fixture that always serves to make the heart beat a little faster for supporters of both sides.

The backdrop to this encounter involves a season which has barely got underway but has already had its fair share of drama for the two teams.

United have already fallen four points behind defending champions Chelsea after throwing away winning positions to draw in away games against Fulham and Everton, while Sir Alex Ferguson’s side also had a below-par night against Rangers in the Champions League.

Liverpool have a new manager, Roy Hodgson, who has made a mixed start as the Reds look to recover from last season’s disastrous seventh place finish which eventually led to the departure of Rafael Benitez to Inter.

Admittedly Hodgson’s charges have had a very difficult run of fixtures to open the new campaign, along with European commitments to be balanced, but defeat on Sunday would mean an unsatisfactory return of one win from five league games.

Therefore the pressure is on for the new man at the helm to pick up some sort of result at Old Trafford in a game the significance of which his opposite number knows all too well.

Ferguson – who once famously said his aim at United was to knock Liverpool off their perch at the top of the domestic game – used his pre-match press conference to re-iterate just how big the game is.

"I sound like a parrot but this is 'the fixture'. There is no question about that," he asserted.

"It doesn't change. The form fluctuates quite a bit but we won the last game so hopefully that turns it back towards us again.

"Roy has the experience. He has gathered a wealth of experience in Italy, Switzerland and Finland and the job he did at Fulham was absolutely extraordinary.

"But our approach will not change. We have to express ourselves the way we always do.”

A win in front of their own fans will certainly be the target for United, although they will be wary of their fierce rivals.

Liverpool have tasted victory in three of the last four games in the head-to-head, although the last meeting saw the Red Devils win 2-1 thanks to a winning goal from Ji-Sung Park.

Whatever the result on Sunday there is sure to be incident, with the final result potentially significant in setting up a positive or negative season ahead for either side.

Bastian Schweinsteiger, Owen Hargreaves and Ball-boy

Soccer Extreme : Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has revealed that he had once begged the club's former midfielder Owen Hargreaves for his boots.

Reflecting on his development and growth at the Bundesliga outfit, the Germany international looked back at the years he had as a child and also revealed a few old memories.

"I was a ball-boy at the stadium, it was always fantastic being up close to the pitch, watching the stars," said the 26-year-old to Bayern's official website.

"Elber, [Oliver] Kahn, [Jens] Jeremies, [Thomas] Linke, [Mehmet] Scholl – and a couple of years later, I was playing alongside them. I also watched them train as often as I could, after I’d cycled back from school to the club’s youth hostel.

"I recall once being the only person at the training ground, and I spent ages watching Owen Hargreaves all on his own, playing a ball against a wooden bench and trapping the rebound. He’d already signed pro forms back then.

"And I was desperate to get hold of a pair of boots like the pros wore, and I basically begged him to give me his!"

When asked whether Hargreaves gave him what he wanted, Schweinsteiger replied, "Yes, he gave in at some point. We’d known each other for a long time, we’d both lodged in the club hostel."

The 26-year-old continued, "Generally, I had some fantastic years there. Obviously, I had to sacrifice a few of the activities lads of that age normally enjoy, but it was enormously important for my development.

"You’re independent for the first time, you have to do your own shopping and cook your own food. I almost burned the place to the ground once, ‘cos I’d bought frozen dumplings and fried them. They were black on the outside and frozen on the inside.

"But I learned from the experience – I don’t cook dumplings myself any more..."

Looking ahead to their weekend clash with FC Koeln in the German Bundesliga where he will come up against his former Bayern team-mate Lukas Podolski, Schweinsteiger said, "Lukas arrived in 2006 with all eyes on him after the World Cup. It didn’t go well for him at the start and he was singled out for a lot of criticism, although I remain convinced he had the potential.

"Some people said it was all because he chose to live outside the city, but I never understood that – in Koeln, he doesn’t exactly live in the shadow of the cathedral." (goal)

Ibra angered by 'big feet' comment

Soccer Extreme : Zlatan Ibrahimovic has criticised Arrigo Sacchi after his comments following Wednesday night's 2-0 Champions League victory over Auxerre.

The towering frontman was at the double for his new club and former Rossoneri coach Sacchi suggested he would have not tucked his first goal away if it wasn't for his big feet, a comment that annoyed the Sweden international.

He responded by saying: "Sacchi needs to learn how to shut up.

"He also seems jealous because he's talking too much, he needs to talk less about me on TV and in the newspapers.

"If he wants something he can come and see me about it. If you don't like the way I play, don't come and watch me."

Elsewhere in Italy, Roma legend Francesco Totti has criticised the club's management for their defensive display in Wednesday's 2-0 Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich.

The Romans fell to two late efforts at Allianz Arena and the veteran front man was unhappy that they didn't adopt a more attacking formation.

"We defended for the entire game, not even having a shot on goal," he said.

"You can't play this way. We faced a great team. But now we must improve to get back to being protagonists in Italy and in Europe." (independent)

Bayern Munich Fans : "Romani Ite Domum"

Soccer Extreme : European soccer’s governing body barred Bayern Munich fans from displaying a Monty Python-inspired banner at Wednesday night’s Champions League match, fearing the sign might offend visiting fans from the Italian club AS Roma.

The Union of European Football Associations said the banner reading “Romani ite domum”—Latin for “Romans Go Home”—was considered provocative.

The slogan references a scene in the movie comedy Monty Python’s “Life of Brian.” UEFA did approve the German fans displaying a “Life of Bayern” flag at the Allianz Arena.

In a statement, UEFA said: “Anything that may cause offense to a fan base or ethnic group, and therefore pose a security risk, including banners or symbols, is carefully vetted.”

Bayern won 2-0 on goals by Thomas Mueller and Miroslav Klose. The German club lost last season’s final 2-0 to Inter Milan. (yahoo)

Anelka does the handcuff

Soccer Extreme : Anelka, 31, was sent home from the World Cup after insulting France coach Raymond Domenech during the 2-0 defeat to Mexico and he was subsequently banned for 18 games after failing to attend a disciplinary hearing.

Anelka, who had indicated that he did not plan to play for his country again after South Africa, said in response to the FFF's ban: "These people are clowns. I'm dying with laughter."

The striker scored twice during Chelsea's Champions League victory on Wednesday, and he has now said his response to the goals was directed at the federation.

"It was just something for the French federation about what happened at the World Cup," he said. "It was just a little joke, but I think the other French players will understand what it means. What happened in the summer is in the past now and I'm 100% focused on playing for Chelsea." (soccernet)

Final Drawing AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 in Hanoi Vietnam

Soccer Extreme : Defending champions Vietnam have been placed in the easier Group B of the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 following the official draw ceremony this afternoon at the Sheraton Hotel here in Hanoi.

Hosts Vietnam, the winners two years ago at the AFF Suzuki Cup 2008 when they beat Thailand in the final for their first ever ASEAN crown, are in Group B alongside Singapore, Myanmar and the runner-up team from the October qualifying round.

But as Vietnam chief coach Henrique Calisto said afterwards, it is important to learn from former world champions Italy and not get beyond themselves.

“We have to respect ourselves, respect our opponents and realised that no team is easy. Just look at what happened to Italy. They were champions four years ago in Germany but in South Africa, they cannot even win one game,” added Calisto.

“We are the champions and we can do it again but we have to look at it one game at a time. We have to think of our first match against Myanmar first rather than thinking whether we can beat Singapore in the third game. If we lose the first two matches, what is the point in beating Singapore?

“It is far important for me to have quality matches rather than stars in the game. We have to have discipline, work hard and tactics.”

The tougher Group A see hosts Indonesia up against Thailand, Malaysia and also the winner of the qualifying round.

Wolfgang Pikal, the assistant coach of the Indonesia national team said that the draw is interesting.

“On paper, Group B is a little easier which makes our position in Group A being a lot harder,” added Wolfgang.

“We have new players in the team, so we are working hard to do better in front of our home fans. All teams are basically at the same level which means that the games will be quite close.” (aseanfootball)

Fake Togo team played friendly against Bahrain

Soccer Extreme : A fake Togo team masquerading as the official side played a match against Bahrain earlier this month, according to reports.

Bahrain won the friendly 3-0 but they were surprised by the poor quality of the Togolese team, with the head coach Josef Hickersberger describing the match in Riffa on 7 September as "boring" and "a wasted opportunity". However, it appears Bahrain's opponents were not an official Togo team.

"Nobody has ever been informed of such a game," Togo's sports minister, Christophe Chao, told Jeune Afrique. "We will conduct investigations to uncover all those involved in this case."

According to the Gulf Daily News, the BFA vice-president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa al-Khalifa confirmed Bahrain went through all the correct channels in organising the match. Shaikh Ali added that all the paperwork received before the friendly were officially signed and stamped from the Togo Football Federation.

The publication went on to report that a letter listed a 20-member Togo team, including each player's passport number and date of birth. However, a completely different list of 18 players was provided by a team official a few minutes before the start of the match.

The Bahrain Football Association said it had been arranged under all the usual official procedures and through an agent they had known for several years. (guardian)

Video : Antonio Valencia Breaks His Ankle

Soccer Extreme : Manchester United winger Antonio Valencia suffered a horrific leg break under a challenge from Kirk Broadfoot during the Champions League clash with Rangers on Tuesday evening.

Around the hour mark, Rangers defender Broadfoot slid in on Valencia, winning the ball cleanly in the process, with the Ecuadorian's left ankle appearing to get trapped between turf and the Scotland man's body as they each slid along the surface, resulting in the injury.

Valencia was visibly distressed and required oxygen as he was carefully carried off the pitch and down the tunnel. An ambulance was on stand-by at Old Trafford, ready to transport the former Wigan Athletic man straight to hospital.

The 25-year-old has had to wait for his chance thus far this term even after an excellent performance in the Community Shield victory over Chelsea, largely due to the impressive form of Portugal star Nani.

The injury, which is yet to be diagnosed but which similar instances have seen players ruled out for several months, will come as a huge blow to boss Sir Alex Ferguson, with the winger enjoying a fantastic debut season at Old Trafford last term as United finished second in the Premier League. Zidane son may opt for Spain

Soccer Extreme : ENZO ZIDANE is the 15 year old son of World Football French Legend ZINEDINE ZIDANE & is currently lifting eyebrows here in the REAL MADRID junior team & with Spanish Football observers. The youngster has apparently inherited the style & playing finesse of his father & may soon make a serious jump in level in his early career which calls for a mayor decision.

Enzo was born in France in 1995 & also has a Spanish passport thanks to his mother, both her parents are Spanish from El Chive town in the region of Almeria in Southern Spain. The Spanish Football Authorities are thinking in calling up young Enzo for the Spanish U 16 National Team, something that needs serious thought because if he decides to take the invitation the player will shut the door to the French National side. Something similar occured with FC Barcelona player Bojan Krkic who decided in favour of Spain over Serbia.

Apparently the final decision will be taken up & made on behalf of Enzo by his father Zinedine. Which country will they choose?
