Katy Perry is a technicolour dreamboat

Soccer Extreme : She has never been one to fade into the background. And Katy Perry certainly stands out in the promotional pictures from her new album, 'Teenage Dream.'

Wearing a bright blue wig and PVC underwear, the 25-year-old singer is likely to achieve a place in the thoughts of adolescent boys everywhere, as the album title suggests. In another photo Perry, wearing a cropped tasselled T-shirt with her home state California emblazoned on the front and leather hot-pants, she looks like a hippy Barbie of the future.

She even shows off the upper arm tattoo that matches her fiancé Russell Brand's.

When talking about the making of the album, which was done with the help of mega-star producers such as Dr Luke and Max Martin, Perry suggests that she had to fight to get what she wanted.

'I'm in the studio fighting with them to change the melody, or I'm fighting for the best lyric at all times,' she said in a recent interview with Billboard.

'I think we rewrote "Teenage Dream" five times for 10 days straight. On the last day, I was so happy to finally get somewhere that we all agreed on.'

Of her upcoming nuptials to Brand and subsequent bachelorette party, Katy's best friend, singer Rihanna, said: 'It’s so much pressure. Her wedding is probably going to be the best wedding I’ll ever go to and now I have to match the bachelorette party to that.'

'It’s taking up way more time than my tour,' Rihanna laughed to Access Hollywood.

Rihanna suggested: 'I could have balloons and Disney characters there and she’ll still make it wild. That’s just Katy Perry. There’s no way around that with her.'

Perry and Brand, 35, became engaged on a Christmas holiday to India last year and are expected to wed later this year. (dailymail)

Tevez begs Torres to join City

Soccer Extreme : Carlos Tevez has urged Liverpool striker Fernando Torres to join him at Manchester City, describing his own move to Eastlands as the best decision of his life.

Torres has been repeatedly linked with City this summer, although interest appeared to have cooled, particularly after Reds boss Roy Hodgson said the Spain striker was looking forward to returning to training on Monday.

However, Tevez was quoted as saying in The Sun: "Torres would definitely make us better. He's one of the top strikers in the world and I would love to have him as a team-mate.

"Last year we ended up contesting the Champions League places. I have no doubt that this year we will achieve that aim and fight for the title.

"The club will pick up reinforcements and this will make us stronger.

"I know I've never regretted coming to City. It's the best decision I ever made." (yahoo)

The Royston Drenthe Facebook Hoax.. Hoax..

Soccer Extreme : It’s usually a tough task to trace transfer rumours back to the source. Not so with the rumour linking Real Madrid’s dread-locked Dutch left winger/left back Roysten Drenthe with a move to Liverpool. Because that particular rumour started on Facebook. And was completely fake.

The good people at COS originally spotted what appeared to be a Drenthe Facebook update claiming:

“I will soon be joining Liverpool Fc . Hope i will have a good season there :)”

However…. That update was July 15th, on a Facebook account that was opened July 13th, and has only been updated three times in total. It’s also pretty unlikely that a 23 year-old professional footballer with a relatively high profile would be dumb enough to have his Facebook profile open for everyone to see, or that any self-respecting person would ever use smiley faces without a heavy dose of irony. Or that anyone could manage to capitalize the “F” but not the “C” in the name of the club they are supposedly joining.

There are also multiple “Royston Drenthe” accounts on Facebook, which can’t all be real, unless Drenthe has some sort of short term memory problem like Guy Pearce in Memento and keeps opening a new Facebook account every day.

Last but not least, Drenthe’s agent today confirmed that the transfer rumour was a hoax, telling BBC Sport that Drenthe isn’t even on Facebook:

“Royston does not have a Facebook page, a Twitter page or a MySpace page. We will be taking legal action against the person who set up this false Royston Drenthe account.
“Royston is definitely staying at Real Madrid. He is happy there, he has spoken to the club directors and is looking forward to the new season at the Bernabeu.”

Some good news though: The Offside is very much on Facebook, where we are 100% real and promise to never ever use smiley faces without irony. (theoffside)

Spanish Keeper Iker Casillas Interviewed by WAG Sara Carbonero

Soccer Extreme : Having just won the World Cup the Real Madrid goalie was then placed in front of a camera to be interviewed by his ludicrously attractive girlfriend Sara Carbonero who attempted to conduct some kind of discussion before the Spanish keeper, clearly overcome with emotion, decides that his other half is just too damned attractive to communicate with and opts instead to launch himself on her. Can you blame him?

(Pics) Model and Cristiano Ronaldo girlfriend Irina Shayk

Soccer Extreme : Irina Shayk (sometimes credited as Irina Sheik, born Irina Shaykhlislamova on January 6, 1986 in Yemanzhelinsk, Russia), is a fashion model perhaps best known for her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue beginning in 2007 and as the face of lingerie brand Intimissimi.

After winning the 2004 "Miss Chelyabinsk" beauty pageant, a scout recommended Shayk pursue a career as a model, and in 2005 she moved to Paris. In 2007, she took over for Brazilian model Ana Beatriz Barros as the face of Intimissimi (a role she had until 2009) and gained international recognition as a "rookie" in the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Since 2007, Shayk has also appeared in campaigns for La Perla, Paciotti 4US, Germaine de Capuccini, and Armani Exchange.

Model and Cristiano-Ronaldo-girlfriend Irina Shayk was recently shot by David Tessieri in Miami for Luli Fama swimwear, looking beach-ready, but super-skinny. And while comparing a behind-the-scenes image to Shayk's final ad, we wondered if Shayk was actually retouched to look healthier. It wouldn't be the first time that editors have had to fatten up a lightweight model--most notably, Kamilla Wladyka was airbrushed to look heavier on the cover of UK's "Healthy" magazine.

Spain celebrate World Cup 2010 success long and hard

Soccer Extreme : Spain have thrown the fiesta to to end all fiestas as the entire country celebrated La Furia Roja's world conquest in South Africa.

Some have partied for 24 hours straight, from the second the final whistle went, to the moment the open-top bus parade ended at the Puente del Rey in Madrid and the festivities continued on an open stage.

The players themselves have had a whirlwind 24 hours and the bruising, punishing bludgeoning they took from the Dutch throughout 120 minutes in the final seem to be a distant memory. Their celebrations expectedly began in the dressing room and the corridors of the Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg where they mingled with royalty and celebrities, including tennis star Rafa Nadal.

But there were no rest for the newly-crowned world champions as they boarded their flight to leave South Africa to head back to Spain early the next morning. And the fiesta continued in mid-air as the players took the concept of in-flight entertainment to a whole new level.

Back in Spain, meanwhile, La Roja fans all across the country partied throughout the night on the evening the Spanish Armada defeated the Netherlands 1-0 in the final. Most didn't go to bed until the early hours of the morning, others didn't go to bed at all.

But that didn't stop them from continuing the celebrations the next day as they welcomed their heroes back on Spanish soil.

The freighter carrying the 2010 world champions touched down in Madrid's Barajas Airport at around 1330 CET and the party immediately began for the staff and the crowd who gathered at the airport as they welcomed home captain Iker Casillas and coach Vicente del Bosque, the World Cup trophy and the entire squad with chants of "Campeones! Campeones! Ole ole ole!"

The players, coaching staff and team managers were then quickly whisked away for a quick siesta before meeting King Juan Carlos, who was unable to attend the final in person in Johannesburg.

"Thank you, champions, in the name of all of Spain and for all Spaniards. This is a well deserved victory for an outstanding team which thrilled the hearts of all Spaniards. You've brought together the whole of Spain, made our dreams a reality, and projected the name of Spain around the world," the King addressed the triumphant squad.

While the street parties across Madrid started to pick up steam and crowds began to multiply, La Seleccion then had an engagement with Prime Minister Jose Luis Zapatero, who singled out hero Andres Iniesta for special praise.

"I want to make a special mention to somebody who dedicated his winning goal to someone who is no longer with us," Zapatero said, referring to Iniesta's goal celebration when he revealed a message he had underneath his jersey: 'Dani Jarque - Always With Us'.

Once the meeting with Zapatero was over, thus began the long, slow journey through Grande Via to the Puente del Rey for the open-top bus parade. The players waved and displayed the World Cup trophy to the masses lined up along the streets.

Coach Del Bosque said during the stage celebrations when he addressed over 200,00 fasn, "This cup, this triumph is for all of you, and the whole Spanish football family.

"Thanks to all the support you've shown us in South Africa. You are also world champions."

Captain and the ever-emotional Iker Casillas added, "I don't know what to say, except that I'm delighted to be here with all of you. We've all achieved the dream that we've had since we were young."

Hero Iniesta did not hesitate when it came time to show his gratitude: "Thanks to the octopus, we are world champions!"

Joking aside, Don Andres added, "I only want to say that you should be proud of this squad. They are the best. I'm very proud to be part of the group." (source all, goal.com)

Adams: Better than 2006!

Soccer Extreme : Sitting relaxed after attending the Final between Spain and the Netherlands on Sunday evening, Bryan Adams was happy to open up to FIFA.com about his experiences in Soccer City.

The rock legend is currently midway through his ‘Bare Bones Tour’, playing dates in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban and even Nambia before travelling back to Johannesburg next Sunday for a date at the Coca-Cola Dome; the venue where he wowed the crowds last Friday for during the ‘Celebrate Africa – The Grand Finale’ concert with Andrea Bocelli.

But the self-confessed Chelsea fan was eager to talk about his experiences of the game, as well as his admiration for sportsmen and why he feels that football’s better with a vuvuzela.

FIFA.com: Bryan, what did you make of the Final?
Bryan Adams: It was a real surprise, I thought the vuvuzelas were going to be quite overpowering but once you get inside the stadium it’s only the occasional person around you that blows them so it was fun – I’m just wondering whether it will become an international thing now? I’ve heard they are going to ban it in European matches, which is too bad as its kind of fun.

Do you think Spain were worthy winners?
I do think they were worthy winners. I also thought Germany were worthy of a place in the final too. I don’t know what happened to them against Spain, they just didn’t play like they had been throughout the tournament, it was really surprising. It was a great competition though and Spain were very worthy to be crowned champions.

In comparison to Germany, which you were at four years ago, do you notice any differences?
There was a much better atmosphere here.

What did you think of Soccer City?
I liked this stadium quite a bit, it was quite enclosed. The Olympiastadion was good but it was very open, but it’s an amazing piece of architecture. They’re both different in many ways, but both good.

Is Soccer City an arena you’d like to perform at yourself in the future?
Sure, why not!

In terms of your music, your ‘Bare Bones Tour’ really is ‘bare bones’, have you enjoyed getting back to basics with an acoustic set?
I have, in fact so much so that we’re releasing a little record that comes out this year. We’re just figuring out how we are going to put it out as it’s not as easy as it used to be. It used to be you’d make a record and you’d release it through a record company, but who knows now with how the music industry is.

In terms of your musicianship, why did you choose to do this kind of tour?
I did a concert back in 1996 called MTV Unplugged and since then it’s been interesting to see how you could reinvent some of the older songs so it’s always been in the back of my mind to do something. But towards the end of the last decade I’ve been thinking more seriously about making a concert which was just a smaller thing to see how it came off. It started out as just a half hour show to promote a record but it evolved into an hour concert and now it’s a full-on tour.

Do you admire sportsmen, because like you they have to fulfil the expectations of thousands of people?
Oh absolutely. I was thinking in fact, when the players were coming out on to the field, what the pressure must have been like. I’ve been in a similar when I played the Olympics recently and walking on stage you suddenly realise there’s a billion people watching you. Imagine how many people were watching the final, untold millions of people, so the pressure must have been extraordinary for them. Once it got underway and they started thinking about the game it maybe gets better, but I reckon there was a lot of pressure on those guys. You really have to overcome the mental obstacles and just concentrate, and that’s where real sportsmanship comes in.

If you were a coach, which one of your tracks would you play to a team prior to a match?
I don’t know I’ve never thought about it, something uplifting obviously. How about ‘We’re Gonna Win’? (www.bryanadams.org)

One World Cup, Three Winners (Spain, South Africa, Octopus Paul)

Soccer Extreme : For years, rumors persisted that FIFA would move the World Cup doubting the South Africa was not equipped to handle logistics and security sixteen years after the dismantling of apartheid. The world was wrong when truth unfolded with the end of FIFA World Cup 2010 – Stadiums were built, crime news did not hit headlines, country projected internatinally as modern and technologically advanced. South Africa also crossed huge psychological barriers.

Nueva Bandera de España!!!

Sunil Gulati, president of the United States Soccer Federation and an economist at Columbia University, said: “Organizationally, it has been a great success. All the concerns people had about Africa were dispelled.”

“The world has seen this country in a different light,” said South Africa president Jacob Zuma.

It was a bold adventure for South Africa which left the nation with a bill of about $5.4 billion and a one-nil win of Spain over Netherlands. Spain became the first European team to win the World Cup outside their continent. Moreover, Spain won the trophy in their first appearance in the final.

Oracle Octopus Paul became a celebrity in the shortest ever time. The sea creature became an international sensation with all its predictions turning to be correct. Paul predicted two days before about the victory of Spain. (dailynews365)

Paul the Octopus : 100% Accurate Record

Soccer Extreme : Paul's accurate choices for the 2010 World Cup, have endowed him with celebrity status. Paul predicted the winners of each of the seven 2010 FIFA World Cup matches that the German team played, against Australia, Serbia, Ghana, England, Argentina, Spain, and Uruguay. His prediction that Argentina would lose prompted Argentine chef Nicolas Bedorrou to post an Octopus recipe on Facebook.

There are always people who want to eat our octopus but he is not shy and we are here to protect him as well. He will survive. —Oliver Walenciak (Paul's keeper)

Paul correctly predicted the outcome of the semi-final, by choosing the food in the box marked with the Spanish flag. German supporters drew hope from his incorrect choice for the Germany versus Spain match in the UEFA Euro 2008 but were disappointed. The prediction led to death threats as German fans called for Paul to be cooked and eaten. In response, Spanish prime minister Jose Zapatero jokingly offered to send Paul official state protection, and the Industry Minister Miguel Sebastian called for Paul to be given safe haven in Spain. Paul maintained a 100% accurate record during the tournament by correctly predicting Spain's victory over the Netherlands in the final. (wiki)

World Cup final: Spain defeat Holland 1-0

Soccer Extreme : Spain on Sunday became the eighth nation ever the win the World Cup, defeating the Netherlands 1 - 0 in extra time.

It was the first time Spain had ever been in a World Cup final and they won by sticking to their tried and trusted game plan and using relentless passing to wear down the Dutch defense.

The Dutch, who successfully disrupted the Spanish passing game for spells, were unable to take advantage of the few opportunities they created.
120 minutes of extra time

Goal!

Iniesta scores! An interchange of passes leaves Iniesta alone for just a moment in front of goal. He doesn't miss.

That looks like it will be it. Just a few more minutes to go.
115th minute of extra time

The Dutch are down to 10 men in the second half of extra time after John Heitinga was booked for pulling down Iniesta on a run toward the goal.

Xavi sends the free kick over the bar.

Oh and it's hardly worth mentioning but have just had another player booked. That means the Dutch have now received nine yellow cards this game.

But can the Spaniards capitalize on the Dutch deficit in the last seven minutes?
First half of extra time

The two sides trade incredible opportunities in the first half of extra time.

Cesc Fabregas hits the goalie when through on goal. He might have slid the ball sideways to a waiting teammate, but opts to shoot and the goalie saves.

Then, on the break, the Dutch miss a wide open goal off a header.

Things are a bit more open now. The tension is mounting.

Oh, and the Spanish miss another opportunity, with Iniesta through but failing somewhat miserably to get a shot off. It looks like he was trying to get the ball on to his right foot. While attempting that, Dutch defender van Bronkhorst took the ball off him.

Another nice break from Spain that ends with a shot from Jesus Navas deflected into the side netting. Nothing comes from the corner.

How will it all end?
Full time

The Dutch are clearly getting under the skins of the Spanish.

With about 12 minutes of regular time left, van Bommel makes contact with Iniesta while going for the ball, but no foul is called. Iniesta, who clearly thinks he has been fouled, hip checks van Bommel after he gets up. Van Bommel goes flying as though a rope was attached to his feet. The referee tries to calm them down, but doesn't issue a booking to either player.

Eight minutes to go, and it's all Spain, except just there, when Robben is once again through on goal. Carles Puyol impedes Robben's run but isn't called. Robben keeps charging but Casillas takes the ball cleanly from the feet of Robben. The Spanish are quite lucky there, or maybe it's more that Casillas is having the game of his life.

After the play, Robben runs screaming after the ref, and is booked for dissent.

I think that's seven yellow cards for the Dutch.

About three minutes left. (AFP)

Octopus Paul has nothing on African bones

Soccer Extreme : Forget Paul the octopus -- in Africa only animal bones can accurately predict the outcome of big matches like the World Cup final between Spain and the Netherlands, South African President Jacob Zuma said on Sunday.

Dutch fans have brushed off a prediction they will lose to Spain made by the oracle octopus who has earned worldwide celebrity status by accurately predicting the outcome of all seven of Germany's matches at the tournament.

"Don't listen to the octopus. Here in Africa we throw bones, it's the bones that talk, not octopuses," Zuma said, drawing laughter from African leaders in his country to watch the final.

Many South Africans swear by sangomas, or witchdoctors, who claim an ability to read into the hidden past, or the future, by scattering animal bones on the ground.

But some fans are placing their faith in Paul the octopus, who is based in Germany, or his rival Mani, a Singaporean parakeet credited with forecasting powers who has predicted a win for Netherlands at Soccer City later on Sunday.

"We will hear... which one is telling the truth," laughed Zuma (yahoo)
